Before you have a go at me, I know there was no Blog on Friday or Monday. There was a very good reason for this - basically nothing happened, nada, zero, not a dicky bird! Therefore, I felt it probably best not to waffle on about nothing as I might lose some of my loyal Mumsters!
So anyway, now I guess you are expecting a fun packed Blog from today - well I will try but don't get your hopes up!
We all work up this morning, little knowing what lay ahead for us. The day started pretty much like most days, got the kids ready for school, had breakfast and settled down to a few minutes of "Alvin and the Chipmunks"............but with one noticeable exception - today was a proud day in the Mr Mum household, a day that will go down in the history books, a day I will be waxing lyrical about in years to come and a day that will be passed down through the Mr Mum generations and spoke about as "The Day Mr Mum executed his first Plait!".
Yes, that's right people, you heard it here first. This morning, in front of an audience Robbie Williams would be proud of......well, about 2 people (actually 1 - Rosie was too busy watching TV so missed this momentous occasion....err and Megan wasn't that bothered either..) SO in front of an audience of none, Mr Mum installed not one, but two Plaits into Emmas hair. Take a bow Mr Mum you made it!!!
Once we had all recovered from this historic moment, it was time to get to school. Emms and Megs took the scooters with Rosie safely in the buggy. This all went well until Emma went one way and Megan an other ending with Mr Mum split between the two. I chose the quick route and caught up with them to find Emma on the floor in tears - a tumble had occurred of mammoth proportions, or so you would think looking at Emmas face! she had actually fallen over a paving stone so no major incident!
We finally made it to school and safely deposited one Megan and one Emma to the respective classes (no tears) before walking home with Rosie taking the scooter - big mistake - it takes FOREVER!! but she is getting there so it wont be long before she is keeping up with the others.
We dived home for a quick bit of Peppa Pig before it was off again to a Toddlers group with T, D and P. The toddler group was pretty good - held in a large hall with lots of toys for the kids including little cars to drive around and a house to climb over, so Rosie was in her element. For £1.50 per kid, they get unlimited biscuits, french bread, cheese, grapes and a couple of coffees for Mr Mum - not bad really! So with Rosie and D off playing, T and I were able to sit down for a few mins and relax.....although it never lasts long before a kid has fallen off the mentioned car or house and needs a little bit of assistance!
After a successful play, Rosie and I came home for lunch and a nap (Rosie not me, although that would be nice!) It was then back to school, with only one question on our lips - had the plaits held out for the day? the answer, a resounding YES! Emma came out of her class looking like she had just spent the day with Vidal Sassoon! During the day, word had spread about "those plaits" so Emma was quickly surrounded with envious Mumsters looking on. There were gasps of excitement in the air, with the occasional "How did he do them so well?" and "I wish I could do that"....after 10 mins I had to pull Emma free from her groupies and collect Megs before the long long walk home - yes, that's right - Rosie had a scooter!
Once home, it was collapse time for them while Mr Mum made a spot of dinner - tonight was Mr Mum pasta surprise (see previous blog for recipe), it was then a quick play in the garden before shower and bed! pheew.
On that note, I will love you and leave you. Time for a well earned bottle of beer. See you all soon and have a good evening!
PS The end of term is approaching so plenty to discuss over the coming days.
