The summer holidays are quickly approaching - 6 weeks with no school for the little treasures!!!
The final countdown to this term has begun, we are 5 days from the summer holiday and still lots to do......
Today started the way any July day in Britain starts, with pouring rain. This meant I was already in a bad mood with the threat of having to apply the buggy rain cover, which Mumsters may recall isnt my favourite past time!
We left for school in the rain but luckily it had cleared up by the time we got there. We dropped Megs off at class and then it was a mad rush back home, as today was the final Jo Jingles music club of the term and in fact the last EVER Jo Jingles for Emma, as she will be too busy at school next term to have time for Jo Jingles, so it will just be Rosie going.
Music club went well, a bit of "Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" followed by "Wind the bobbin up" made for an entertaining session and the kids enjoyed it. Emma then said an emotional goodbye to Jo Jingle ( a teddy bear) before leaving for the supermarket.
A quick zoon round then it was home for lunch and naps. Before you could say "it would be good to sit down for 5 mins" it was time to get back up to school and pick up Megs.
Normally this takes about 10 mins to walk to school, but today a little bit longer. Emma announced she wanted to walk to school in her flip flops - I tried to convince her that walking to school and back in flip flops would not be a wise move but she wasnt having it and was sure she could do it. So you can guess what happened.
Approx 10 yrds up the road, the first flip flop fell off with a little cry from Emma, this was followed by approx. 200 more flip flop off incidents before we made it to school - the crying increasing in length and volume at every incident, so you can imagine the walk was such fun! As we approached school, I swapped Rosie out of the buggy for Emma. At this point Emma promptly walked through some dog mess, sat in the buggy, took her flip flop off and spread the dog mess all over her hands - lovely! with no wipes it was a case of getting to school quick in damage limitation mode so that i could find a Mumster with an emergency wipe for us to use - luckily E was on hand so drama over!
Today there was an "open " session in Megs class which meant we could go in and look through all the work they had done this year, which was nice. It was good to see all her mates and all the work Megan had been busy working on this year.
Due to the number of kids hanging around waiting for their mums, I decided it would be a good idea to have a game of football. So I sent H off to find a ball and away we went - it was pretty much boys v girls and was good fun. Its quite interesting watching boys playing football compared to girls. The boys are all about sliding tackles and kicking who ever has the ball where as the girls are quite happy running around after the ball kicking it to each other! With the score at 5-4 to the boys there came shouts from the mums "time to go home" bellowed across the playground so that was that - the final whistle went and we all started making our way home.
Due to the earlier incident, which we will now call "flipflopgate" I decided it was best Emma went in the buggy and Rosie walked with Megs, this went ok, but just took forever...... We finally got home at 5pm - 2 hours after school had finished!
It was then quick tea (Mr Mums pasta surprise) followed by showers and the best bit of the day, BED!
I have a feeling this week will get busier and busier, building up to the end of term "Pimms and Picnic" on Friday afternoon - lots happening before then so keep reading Mumsters!!!
'Flipflopgate' does not sound good! Thanks for keeping them entertained and sorry you ended up hanging around while I did my 3 class visits. I think Charlie is now convinced Rosie and Emma wants todo everything with him because they like him (according to him!).
ReplyDelete"Flipflopgate" sounds like she gets it from her Da!
