Mr Mum is back, well just for the one day anyway.......its a school teacher training day, so kids off school and Jo had a work meeting in Oxford, leaving me at home with the kids for a another day.....
Emma still had to go in to her pre-school, so we all took her in for a 9am start (no tears). She even gave Megs a guided tour around the classroom.
We then came home and got ourselves ready for a picnic with the Hilsons. The weather wasnt great, but with a good forecast in the afternoon we set off to the park. We picked T and the Hilson clan up en route and all headed off in the one car.....
With the weather still a bit overcast, we decided to start proceedings in the cafe. A quick juice and hot chocolate pit stop and then over to our designated picnic area.
Prior to any food being consumed, other than Rosie and D who couldnt wait any longer, it had been a good 45 mins since their last food so I can understand they must have been hungry! We decided to have a rematch of the Larkams v Hilsons celebrity football match. We were one down, with Emma at school but Megs and I felt we still had enough to turn over the Hilsons.
Some of my more interested Mumsters will know, the last game between the two families ended in a hard fought battle with the Larkams coming out on top - todays encounter was no different, in fact I wouldnt be lying to say there were some filthy tackles flying in.....
After a brief team talk, Megs and I decided the best way to win this was to attack at every opportunity, a bit like the famous Man utd, but without the money or the talent! So when the whistle went we were first out of the blocks and were quickly 1-0 up. The Hilsons then decided to have their own team talk - I can only guess what was said from the outcome....it seemed like the tactic was to kick lumps out of Mr Mum until he collapsed on the floor in pain....so T began the assault with a couple of quick jabs and kicks to the ankle, this was quickly followed by A who thought tickling and punching would be the best tactic, so after 10 mins I felt like I had gone 10 rounds with Frank Bruno (on his day, not now because I think I might be able to beat him now!)
So with the score at 3-1 to the Larkams we decided to stop for half time and lunch. This gave team Larkam a chance to re-group and mop up the blood from the brutal Hilson tackling. Lunch was a brief affair with the kids polishing it all off as if they hadnt eaten for about a month.
We then had a quick woods visit for Megs who needed a number 2 - getting good at these now! this was followed by a brief game of frisby before the main event started again - the second half.
Team Larkam had now got wise to the tactics coming from the Hilsons so we managed to get through the first five minutes unscathed. With the score at 4-2 I found myself in the middle of the pitch with the ball. I put my foot on it to see where Megan was and get ready for the killer pass....out of the corner of my eye I saw a sight that can only be described as a raging bull steaming towards me. It wasnt of course, it was simply T - but she was moving......I tried to shift the ball to my other side but was too late, T approached with a leg held high (i was bare foot, she had shoes on) - the next thing I know my ankle and foot have been demolished by the right leg swing from T, a clear foul and one she got booked for. unfortunately for T, I wasnt the only one to be hurt - she went down like a sack of spuds but was getting zero sympathy for such an outrageous tackle!
As the game progressed all sorts of tactics were being used, the Larkams even adopted the classic of bending down behind someone while the other person pushed them over your back trick - although we didnt manage to pull it off...... As the game drew to an end, the players were starting to lose interest and with the score at 6-5 to the Larkams the game was declared over with the Larkams champions again.
I limped off for a rest with T hobblilng behind me (still no sympathy) and the rest following......We then chilled out in the sun (which had finally come out) before packing up and heading back to pick Emma up from school.
We then dropped the Hilsons home who were still sulking after another loss! before we came home for tea and an ice pack on my ankle!
Another successful day in the life of Mr Mum, so thanks to the Hilsons for contributing to a fun day and I hope when we next play you will give us a better game!!!!!

Animal lovers....we are not!
I know, I know, I know....... on Friday I said that was the "final blog" but today was a bonus day as Mr Mum so I thought I would squeeze one more regular blog in, before they become a bit more random.
As I was my last day I enlisted T and family to a day out in the country.
We met up at Ts house at about 9.20 and headed off with our 6 kids to our first destination - Christmas Tree Farm. We arrived at about 9.45, and it was fully open ready to take us in. There was some doubt whether it was opening at 9 or 10, with a side wager on the outcome. I won the wager and am still waiting for the bet to be honoured - watch this space!
On arrival, the kids were handed a bucket of animal feed each for the animals in the farm. This was a potential disaster waiting to happen, I could see a few of the kids eating the feed, while others would throw it over each other, with the animals getting very little. However, my worries were unfounded as the kids set about "feeding" the animals pretty well.
First stop was the Lamas, and with the kids looking a bit unsure, T decided to show them how to do it. Grabbing a bucket of feed she confronted a Lama, which leant over, grabbed a mouthful out of the bucket and then promptly sneezed it back all over T! The kids and I found it amusing, but not sure my animal loving friend T saw the funny side!
The kids then got into the stride of it and were busy feeding the chickens, sheep, horses and cows. Most of the food ended up being thrown at the animals, but I guess they are used to that and all took it in their stride! We had a couple of buckets which found themselves over the fence with the animals, but brave Mr Mum overcame all the odds and recovered 90% of the buckets thrown!
The pigs were off somewhere today, probably getting ready for someones breakfast! but we managed to catch up with the rabbits, which were HUGE! as well as some guinea pigs and ferrets. As we left the animal area T almost bought a rabbit - they were being sold as a free gift when you bought a bag of sawdust!! still £25 each, so we gave it a miss.
We stopped for a quick coffee and ice cream before departing the farm for our next destination, the park.
After a near miss in the country lane between T and an oncoming car we managed to find the park and we set up camp at the top of a hill sitting in the sunshine. After eating Mr Mum's Premier Picnic (one of the many recipes in the forthcoming book) we decided a game of football was required. Mr Mum's family v T's family.
I was already down one player as Rosie thought the picnic was far more interesting than any game of football, but it didnt matter because D wasnt going to leave his "girlfirend" for anything. So it was 3 vs 3.
I had a team talk before the game and we decided to start with Megs in goal, Emma on the wing and me in a holding role in the middle. This was quickly undone with a fast move from K, running down the wing, she skipped past Emma, dummied a shot to Megs and then let rip with her right foot - bursting the imaginary net it was 1-0 to T's Tigers.
After about half an hour waiting for Emma to bring the ball back (it had rolled down the hill), we were back up and running and Mr Mums Muppets were motoring with the ball. A quick one two with Emma and Mr Mum shoots....only to hit the post (well, shoe) and off for a goal kick. The game was heating up. Ts Tigers had the ball and with Emma off checking her hair and nails, it was left to Megs and me to contain the force of the Tigers. The ball was launched from A in goal to T, who "controlled it", passed back to A who launched a high ball towards the Muppets goal. As quick as a flash, like a gazelle, T was leaping in the air to go for the spectacular volley.......this didnt quite go to plan, but she managed to "knee" the ball over Megs head and into the goal. 2-0 and the Muppets were on the ropes.
I decided we needed a tactical change, so I went in goal and sent Megs and Emma (who was now back) up the field to collect the long balls. After a bit of Mr Mum magic, I was round T with only K to beat, I passed the ball to Megs who smashed it passed K and it was 2-1. Within two mins it was 2-2 after a blistering run from Emma and another shot by Megs. At 2-2 my biggest problem was keeping everyone interested in the game.....people were fading fast so the last goal would be the winner. After a tight fought contest in the middle, with some underhand tactics including T stamping on my bare foot, Mr Mums Muppets managed to get the ball up the pitch and passed a tired A in goal to make it 3-2 - the victory was ours.................
After such a dramatic game, it was time to relax for a bit with a sweet before heading off again. Next stop the playground.
The playground worked out pretty well, wasnt too busy and there was lots for them to do, so with the kids entertained T and I took a well earned rest. Only interrupted with the occasion request for a drink, push on the swing, sweet and bizarrely, a toilet stop. Now, as many of you will know, the average playground does not come with any toilet facilities, so I was given the lovely task of taking Megs and Emma round the back of the bushes for Megs to perform a number 2 and Emma a number 1. This was quickly followed by T's turn with A, quickly followed by me again with Emma who now needed a number 2. Still, I guess it is good for the plants!!!
With the time against us and the threat of rain overhead, we decided to call it a day and head off home.
Another successful day came to an end and a fitting climax to the reign of Mr Mum. So thanks again to T and family for sharing my last day and making it so much fun.
Just to keep you in the loop. I am back to "work" tomorrow but will be around from time to time to help with Kids etc, so watch this space for updates and more entertainment!!!

The last day as Mr Mum.....
A sad moment in the chapter of Mr Mum, the last official day as Mr Mum. I will continue but it wont be on a daily basis as I have to head back to an office and start bread winning again.
The day started well, with the sun shining again, so took Megs to school - she only had a half day today as it is the Easter break, so it was non school uniform day, they were even allowed to take a teddy bear in and then watch a movie - alright for some!
Arrived at school, and the gang gathered to discussed each others clothes and teddy bears - blimey, how are old are they? they suddenly care what they are wearing and what their peers are wearing - when did that start??!?!
Dropped Megs off, then we went back home to get ready for lunch (E was coming round) and the Mumsters picnic this afternoon.
E came round for lunch and we enjoyed an hour in the garden before having to head back to school for 1.30 to pick the kids up. We had a quick scoot around and then it was off to the park.
The park is next to the school and I have never seen it so busy - it was absolutely packed with Mumsters doing the same as us. We managed to find a little corner which became base camp, laid out the picnic blankets and sent the kids off to play. happy days.....
There was a good group of us - T,D, A, K, E, R,H, S, K, B, K, S, N, N to name but a few! (most of them are the kids by the way). I had managed to bring a refreshment buggy with it which contains some nice Pimms (with all the trimmings), white wine and blackcurrent for the kids, we also had crisps and G&T contributions from the others. So we sat back and got stuck in to the Pimms.
An eventful 4 hours in the park, and as this is the last formal blog, I felt it best I dont take the mickey out of anyone in particular or point out any peculiar behaviour.
Therefore, I wont mention a certain mumsters losing her rag with her son and calling him a "muppet", which I think the whole park heard, or there is the vibrating fence incident, and then there was the Mumster telling off the 11 year olds for pushing her daughter - I wont mention that!
Heres one for all the dads out there - When asked to guess the age of a woman, what do you do? you cant win whatever you say - but sadly, this is what Mr Mum was asked today in the park. I was bullied into giving an answer so I plumped for a fair age of 33. Now, you would have thought I had just told them I was blowing up the world or something - the uproar this caused sent ripples around the park....so much so that I thought I must have made serious error in my age guessing. My name was mud at this point, so I simply asked how old she was, expecting her to say 20 or something.....but no, how old was she? she was 30 - I WAS 3 YEARS OUT, which in my book isnt bad! So all you dads out there, if ever asked this question, do not answer it - run away!
Anyway, we left the park at 5ish to come home for tea. When home, Emma decided to be sick all over the sofa - a nive mixture of strawberries and blackcurrent drink - ideal on a light coloured sofa!
As its my last blog, I just wanted to send out a few thanks to everyone who has helped me stumble through the last 5.5 weeks. Firstly, there is B - thanks for the cakes and the coffee mornings, really appreciate it. Then there is M for the toddler mornings and E for being a helpful Mumster, joining the PAB meets and for putting up with me! All the other Mumsters at the school -thank you for allowing me into the inner circle for these weeks, its ok Jo will be back soon!
Penultimately, there is T - what can I say - thanks T, you have been great to me, I really appreciate it and for putting up with my endless questions and mickey taking!
Finally, the biggest thanks goes to my kids and wife for allowing me the pleasure of being Mr Mum for the last few weeks. I have really enjoyed it.
Its been emotional, sure we've had our ups and downs, and heck, yes sometimes I wish I had been at
work, but when you see the kids run over smiling at pick up time, it makes everything else not matter. I just explained to Megs and Emma that mummy will be taking over again and I asked what they liked about having daddy around - Megs said "buying me ice cream" and Emma said "making her lunch" -?!?!? and then Emma said "I'll miss you daddy".......and that made it all worthwhile.
Last Mr Mum Top tip
Dont take "the wife" for granted:
The number one top tip is not to take your wife for granted, looking after kids isnt easy and should never be looked on as the "easy role".
Over the last 5 weeks, I have found a whole level of respect for all the mums out there, getting kids ready, taking them to school in the cold and rain and making sure they get through the day undamaged is a thankless task and my hat goes off to every single one of the Mumsters who do this day in day out.
Kids are great, but can be challenging and sometimes extremely frustrating, but make the most of every day, because before you know it, your kids will have all grown up and will no longer want their mummy when they hurt themselves, or their hair combed in the morning.
Its been fun along the way and will miss it when I am back in a stuffy office 5 days a week. God bless all the Mumsters out there - without you I would have been nothing!
The blog will continue in some shape or form, but probably not on a daily basis so keep your eye on it.
see you again soon.....

Sickness hits Mr Mum central....
Today didnt start too well, actually last night didnt start to well - Megan decided to be sick, not once, not twice but three times in the space of about 2 hours. The first time she made it as far as the bathroom door, the second time a bit closer to the loo and the third time we were prepared with a bucket!
She woke up this morning perfectly fine with no complaints, but apparently there is a rule at school meaning she isnt allowed back for 24 hours - in my day I would have to lose a leg or something before I got a day off school, but there we go. Therefore, I had Megan for the day.
The sun was shining on us again today, which is always nice. We all walked to school to drop Emma off (no tears) and then T and I had a meet with the Junior School to discuss their IT. I have never had a meeting before where three kids sat in the corner "joining in" from time to time or simply crashing around!! The meeting went ok and I think the man we met was glad to see the back of us, especially the 3 kids!
T and I then made our way home, but we almost didnt make it as we ended up getting trapped at school - the main gate has a security buzzer on it, so you need to push a button from the inside to release it. I was in charge of pressing the button, leaving T the simple task of opening the gate (or so I thought). I completed the button pressing bit with relative ease, but then we had a problem. the gate wouldnt open. I pressed the button again, still nothing, and again, still nothing....this went on for about 10 attempts. I could see us spending the day in school....maybe a coffee in the staff room followed by lunch with the kids. Maybe a bit of PE in the afternoon and then home time with everyone else - didnt actually sound to bad! It was on about the 11th attempt when we realised what the problem was. We realised that in order to open the gate, first you needed to slide a rather simple bolt across and then simplly pull the gate. Drama over - I can see how it would have foxed the most professional of gate openers so I am not blaming T!!!
After that bit of excitement we went our separate ways. Rosie decided to walk home so we finally got home about 11.15, which was fine as it was such a nice day.
We then played in the garden for a bit, had some lunch, Rosie went for a nap and then it was back to school. As a side note, when I was a working Mr Mum, I thought once the kids were dropped off there was plenty of time in the day to do as you please, but in reality there really isnt that much time. By the time you get home from drop off, sort yourself out, have some lunch, let the little one sleep it is time to get back to school. So for all those Mumsters I have accused of sitting around in coffee mornings all day, I apologise!
Anyhows, picked Emma up ok and then walked out the front of the school so we could grab an ice cream for the walk home. My kids are odd when it comes to ice creams - they always want the "99" ice cream, with the flake in the top. However, Megan doesnt really like the cone, Emma only likes the cone and Rosie, well Rosie would eat the ice cream van if she could!
We finally got home for a play in the garden before tea, a bit of Masters golf on the tv and then bedtime.
Tomorrow is my last official day as Mr Mum - cant believe the 5.5 weeks have gone this quick, I had better start thinking about getting a job! Or perhaps my wife likes work so much that she will want to continue leaving me at home for the summer!!!
We are at number two on the Mr Mum Top 5 tips......
Patience:
Staying patient while your kid is not getting their shoes on or eating their tea before it gets cold is a very very tricky skill to master. I bet the majority of us lose our temper at one time or another during the course of the day at one of the kids who isnt doing what was asked of them at quite the speed you would have hoped. This is when you need to take a deep breath, think of England and maybe count to 10 before saying anything.
As mentioned before, if you fall for their little trap, you will be shouting and screaming at them before you know it, all that results in is the little person going even slower to spite you or the little person bursting into tears, therefore slowing you down even further.
Thats all we have time for today - so Mumsters, you stay classy and I will catch up with you tomorrow - my last day....very sad...... :(
PS After 5.5 weeks, I have just noticed I can add photos to this blog, so for the first and probably the last time, below is from our ice cream outing:

The sun has got his hat on........
Well, we are half way through the final week of Mr Mum and we managed to organise a bit of sunshine today - it has been hot hot hot at Mr Mum central which makes life a lot easier!
For one, we dont need those pesky buggy rain covers and we dont need to spend, what seems like a lifetime, finding coats and jumpers before leaving for school. Lets hope the weather stays like this for the rest of Mr Mums time.
So, with the sun shining we left for school, Megan and Emma on scooters and rosie in the buggy. Emma last about 1.2 mintues before giving up on the scooter, leaving me to carry it the rest of the way. Rosie had managed to drop dolly, two socks, two shoes and a drink on the way in so we took a bit longer than usual.
Still, made it in, dropped Megs off first and then we dropped Emma off (no tears) before Rosie and I went for a meeting with the Head of the jnr school and T to discuss their IT. Unfortunately the head was unavailable so after Rosie and D had played havoc at the school we all walked home again.
I was then invited to a Toddler group with B, N & N which was good as there was lots of outside space, allowing the pesky kids to run around while I drunk my coffee and discussed handbags with the Mumsters. Well, my drinking coffee and relaxing lasted two minutes before, as the only bloke there, I was roped into bringing tables out, sorting chairs and putting umbrellas up - I might as well have been working there!! anyway, cant complain as Rosie had fun.
Came home, then went to pick Emma up (half day today). She had made a yellow Easter chick, or that was the idea, what actually arrived was a yellow mass, but I will let her off as she is only 4!
Had lunch in the garden and pretty much chilled there with the kids, enjoying the sunshine until we had to go and pick Megs up (who was later due to Athletics club). Came home, had tea outside and left them out to play while I wrote this.
Just time to give you Mr Mums Top tip number 3:
Try to make your children self-reliant:
I think we would all agree, the quicker your kids are self reliant the better. But there is a fine line between pushing too quickly and letting them learn for themselves.
I have tried to leave them to get themselves ready in the morning for school, you can try speeding them up and letting them get on with it, but it simply doesn't work - the threat of "OK, I will just leave you here then" just doesn't seem to cut the mustard anymore. They just sit there with a look saying "Ok, go on then, I will simply watch some tv while you take the others to school and when you arrive home again we can discuss it further".
Another part of self-reliance is around Homework, or using its correct blooming PC term "Home Learning" - a lot more positive thinking apparently! Home Learning is for the kids, it is not an excuse for a parent to complete the assignment with the hope of secretly earning themselves a gold star from the teacher. You parents need to walk away from the home learning! Ok, help them a bit and offer some advice but too many of you out there fall into the trap of taking over and completing it for them - it doesn't help the child so don't do it!
I hope that helps.
So, a pretty uneventful day I am afraid - will try harder tomorrow. Lets hope the sun keeps shining and keep in touch.
PS Just before I go, a couple of footnotes. Number one is a Thank you to SN for her comment on the blog - I am glad you are enjoying it and I hope we can count on you to become a valuable member of the Mumster club! With regards to the PAB meeting, on behalf of all the Mumsters out there, I would like to apologise for the lack of an invite for this weeks meeting. If there is one next week, I will make sure you are invited as our honourable guest. As a way of apology, I would like to invite your daughter to a spot of tenpin bowling in May for Megs bday party!!
Lastly, GOOD LUCK to the boys in red tonight - lets show Chelsea how to play European football!

A statement from Mr Mum
It has been brought to my attention, via various comments on the blog from the Mumsters (mainly M and T) a few rumours have started to spread regarding the likes and dislike of Mr Mum.
I would hereby like to set the record straight once and for all in the following statement:
"Regarding Justin Beiber, Mr Mum would like to make it clear that he has no interest in the music or anything that Mr Beiber might have to say. His bouncing floppy hair has no place in my life and that of my children. I am sure Mr Beiber is a very nice young man, but his music is awful and he is Canadian. I hope this puts the rumours to bed and we can all get on with our lives. I know Mr Beiber is not happy that the added interest this has brought to him and both Mr Mum and Mr Beiber would now like to get on with our lives. We would appreciate our global fan bases to accept this and move on with their comments"
As for my interest in the new dance craze, Zumba. I would like to add that I have no intention of ever demonstrating my Zumba skills to Mumsters throughout the world* My interest in the Zumba dance and all it brings is purely in an observational capacity and I hope that brings an end to the rumours of Mr Mum starting a Zumba retreat. I wish all Zumba dancers the best of luck, and I hope you all continue to enjoy the craze, however easy it looks!!!"
This concludes the statement from Mr Mum. For a copy of this or any queries, please contact Bob at Mr Mum Central.
*Mr Mum would like to point out that after a few drinks anything is possible and therefore the above guarantee of no Zumba dancing becomes void when alcohol is in play.

Four days to go and all is good.....
The final week is closing rapidly, today has been another good day.
The day started with a lot of rain, that means tackling a rain cover for the buggy, which isnt good as my Mumsters will know from previous blogs. I gave it another go this morning, but I think it is safe to say the the rain cover has beaten Mr Mum - I dont know who designed it but it is crazy, in fact I dont think it has ever fitted, they just throw it in with the buggy to test the patients of parents who are running late for school and its pouring with rain. Curse you rain covers!
So as we gave up with the rain cover, I decided to drive to the back entrance and make a break for it from there, I also needed to then get my haircut so could drive off instead of coming home again. This all went well, took Megs and Emma to school (no tears), quick chat with Mumsters - all gloating, standing there with their rain covers tightly covering their little treasures while mine were a little wet!
Rosie and I then went to the barbers for my haircut which actually was rather civilised. I thought Rosie would be a nightmare in there, but she soon had them running around with story books and biscuits so I need not have worried!
We then popped home for a nap (Rosie not me) before heading out for another PAB meeting. Today, I was joined by E, T and D - we went to our usual venue and settled in for the afternoon. All went well, food was a bit average, although Rosie didnt complain, and with a little play area set up we were able to relax and enjoy a beer / archers! D (2 years old) had a bit of a rough time, he got a black eye from the back of Rosie's head, walked into a table, banged his head on another table and hit his ear against yet another table - other than that he was ok! So big thanks to T and E for attending the meeting and giving Mr Mum some adult company!
T and I then walked back to the school to pick up our respective kids before I headed home.
Continuing the Top 5 Mr Mum handy hints, tonight is number 4 on the list:
Time Management:
Juggling kids / a routine is not easy at the best of times, especially with three of the little "angels", therefore managing your time is crucial. The last thing you need is to be chasing around late for everything so I suggest a routine designed on a spreadsheet which clearly marks out the activities for the allotted day with times and details for every event. I would also leave at least an extra 5 mins to everything you do, because there is always one kid stropping, or not wanting to participate.
Also remember, and this is important, Kids have no appreciation of time. You could be late for an important event, jumping around the house trying to get everyone ready, and the kids could be sitting there with a look on their face of "whats the problem, why the hurry?" This is designed to make you angry, which will lead to more time being wasted, so the best thing to do is not to rise to it but simply explain the need to get their bloody shoes and coat on before you stop them from listening to Justin Beiber!*
If you follow this advice you should be ok, as soon as you deviate from the plan you will be in all kinds of trouble!
Anyway, thats all for today folks, off now to write some party invites for Megs and K's joint bday party in May........see ya!
PS Good luck to Spurs tonight and even bigger luck to Man Utd tomorrow night - big big game!
*Mr Mum does not condone the listening to any music sung by Mr Justin Beiber and strongly recommends parents follow suit.

The countdown has begun....
Today was an emotional day at camp Mr Mum.......as we are in our last week as Mr Mum (for the time being) we are slowly having to say Goodbye and Thanks to all the classes we have been to and all the lasting relationships we have built up.
Today it was the turn of the last Jo Jingles class and Dancing class. very sad day. The day started well, with everything in place - dropped Megs and scooter to school, quick chat with some of the Mumsters and then off to Jo Jingles music class, had a good time there until we lost Rosie (only temporary, she always finds her way back!), other than that all good - nice little sing-a-long followed by a play in the soft play area.
Quick stop at the supermarket for some essentials before home and lunch.
Brief pit stop then back to school to pick up Megs and off to Dance classes. I wont bore you with the details, actually sod it, yes I will. Emma starts dancing at 3.30, Megan pick up is 3.15 so you do the maths - we need swiss timing precision to get to dancing in time. This is how to achieve it:
- leave house at 2.45 by car - NEVER by foot, no way is there enough time for walking
- park at the back of the school, carefully facing the correct way for fast getaway
- be at Megs classroom by 3.15 making sure to have unlocked scooter beforehand (wastes valuable minutes otherwise)
- give Megs 2 mins to spin round the playground with her mates (if you dont you will pay for it later it moaning)
- get back to car and start your engine
- chuck the kids in the car (hopefully with seatbelts on)
- GO GO GO
- arrive at dance class at 3.28
- pull emma out of car, and make a break for it
- drop her off - tears or no tears
- back to car for Megs and Rosie (Megs getting changed while I am dropping Emma off)
- everyone inside for a sit down and biscuit ready for Megs 4pm class
- Relax over a nice glass of wine with the Mumsters (I made the wine up, we never have wine - its normally champagne!)
So if you are ever at the same school as my kids and need to get to the same dance class, you will be ok with my handy hints!
Then it was home, tea, spelling test, run around the garden, bit of tv and bed.
The last Monday of my reign draws to a close, yes theres been some tough Mondays in the past but I will miss you Monday, you have always kept me on my toes and given me a challenging day - god bless you, I will never forget you.
Couple of footnotes. It has been commented on the blog by one of my overseas Mumsters (america) that it is I who is in fact in love with Justin Beiber and not the children. I would like to put a stop to these rumours before they travel the globe. I have and never will have any emotional times with Mr Beiber other than my frustration / anger over his floppy hair. Mr Beiber will never be a part of my life and I am doing what I can to block all contact between my kids and Mr Beiber. So far so good.
Secondly, with our second P.A.B. meeting tomorrow (parents at bars), I wanted to remind you all to set up your local PAB meetings and report back on how they went. I expect they are already happening globally but I would like to hear about them.
Finally, as this is my final week (did I mention that!?!), I wanted to share a few handy tips with you, just in case you are ever thrown into this position or maybe already are in this position. Starting today I will be providing my 5 essential Mr Mum tips. Take them, use them, circulate them, do as you wish - but never ever blame me for them!
Tip Number 5:
Dont be too proud to ask for help - There have been times, through the last 5 weeks when even Mr Mum has required help and assistance to keep going. Sometimes things get too much or you are in some sort of emergency and desperately need help from someone.
There was the time, just last week, when I was at the end of my tether, I didn't know where to turn or what to do, the reason - I had run out of cake - yes thats right, I ran out of cake! but no problems, tapped into the Mumster network and before you know it 4 chocolate brownies had arrived. This is what I am talking about people, never be too scared to ask for help in times of crisis.
Top Tip number 4 will be tomorrow. Laters people.

Happy Mumsters Day!!!
Today is officially Mumsters Day so go out and rejoice! In some circles, they call it Mothers Day, but what do they know. I think we all prefer Mumsters Day so that is what it will be from now on.
I dont normally cover the weekends but it has been action packed so far so thought I would add a few lines. Yesterday was the school Easter Fair, I was volunteered for the first shift on the Jam Jar Tombola stand with my glamorous assistant T. The demand for Jam Jars was fierce and we managed to shift quite a few (including the Man Utd one Megs did!). We were then relieved of our duties and the rest of the family arrived to enjoy the fair.
About 4 hours and £40 later we had successfully completed the fair - easter egg hunt done, bouncy castle done, mumster day present done, decorate a china foot (dont ask) done, tears done, chutney purchased, sweets eaten, fights over remain sweets done, cup of coffee drunk and Man Utd came from 2-0 down to win 4-2 to all good!
Today, being national Mumsters day, Emma and I went to buy some flowers while Megan went swimming. You would think buying flowers was a pretty mundane event, but not with Mr Mum and Emma! We arrived at the flower stand (a popular stand in a pub car park, which is well know for well priced flowers) and the queue was about 50 deep, of which 90% were blokes looking to pick up a bunch of flowers. This was at 9.30 this morning, by 9.40 they had run out of flowers so we had to wait 20 mins for a new delivery.
Just as we were buying ours, I noticed someone I recognised out of the corner of my eye, I thought, could it be him, surely not, he is miles from his home.....my heart started beating faster as it dawned on me that it was actually him, he was standing next to me buying flowers at the same flower stand, I could not believe it! I guess you want to know who it was - well, sit down before you read this because its quite exciting - it was none other than Gus Poyet, yes thats right Gus Poyet.....unbelievable don't you think?
For that minority of mumsters who dont know him, he is the current Brighton and Hove Albion (football club) Manager and is currently sitting top of League one with an excellent chance of being promoted to the Championship to play teams like dirty dirty Leeds, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace (although Palace will probably swap leagues with Brighton in the summer!). Mr Poyet, we Salute you!
Anyhows, that brings you all right up to speed, I will catch you all tomorrow when I get a chance, we all know Mondays are busy busy!
Enjoy Mumsters Day!

Its the weekend people!!!
The sun is out and the weekend is finally upon us - a long long week draws to a satisfactory close.
Today has been a good day for Mr Mum and the kids, we dropped Megs successfully at school with her scooter (scooter club after school on Fridays) and then came home for a bit of art work before heading out to the shops for a few bits and bobs.
After lunch and sleeps (Rosie, not me), it was round to Ts for a coffee afternoon. It doesn't have the same ring to it as coffee mornings - why is that? do mums not meet up in the afternoons, or perhaps its called something different. Anyway, I am waffling - we had a good time round there, the kids played happily (most of the time) and I got to talk to an adult for a while (well, I say an adult....).
T and I then made our way to school, during which time Rosie lost one shoe, which we caught, then a sock, which we caught. However, when we got to school it became apparent Rosie has slipped off the other shoe and sock without us spotting it so a search party was quickly set up to find the missing items. We enlisted the kids and before too long they were both found safe and sound and returned to Rosie's foot.
It was then scooter club which was fun, Megs and her mates disappeared, while Rosie negotiated her way round the playground on Emma's scooter, falling over every so often, luckily there were plenty of mums to pick her up again!
We then came home for another Mr Mum recipe, Mr Mum's Pizza Supreme. The recipe will be in the book so I wont share it with you now, but it went down well so cant be too bad! There was then some playing in the garden and bed.
Before I go, a couple of other things I wanted to rant about / discuss with my Mumsters.
Firstly, I had the "privilege" of hearing Justin Beiber sing today, not in person you understand - I am not as lucky as Megan's mate who "kissed him on stage", but I got to hear his voice for the very first time and I have got to tell you, I am not impressed. Why has he got such a following? Ive heard better singing from Take That, and that's saying something!!
Secondly, I saw a car advertised for sale on the side of the road today, it had a big poster in the window detailing all the positives about the car. What amazed me was the number one item on the list "two lady owners" - now, is that even a selling point, never mind number one on the list?!?! In my experience lady owners are not always a good thing for a car, the gearbox will be exhausted and I am sure there will be a few dents on the bodywork! I discussed this with T on the way to school and thought maybe I was being a bit over critical of lady owners, but I didn't need to worry as at that very moment, T managed to crash her buggy into a lamp post!!! Case closed.
Finally, its the Easter Fair tomorrow at school, which is great - I will be helping out where I can but why was it scheduled on the same day as the cricket world cup final?!?!?
Oh well, I think thats me just about done for the day - I hope all my Mumsters are ok out there, have a good weekend wherever you are and lets all catch up on Monday for a bit more gossip, although its a bit one way, so feel free to comment on the blogs - it works now!
